Birmingham, Ala. – Fresh off a successful inaugural season, the Birmingham Hammers announced today that the team has been accepted as the newest member of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) and will begin league play in May 2016.
The NPSL is a nationwide league founded in 2002 as the Men’s Premier Soccer League. In the 13 years since its founding, the league has grown to more than 80 teams spanning the entire country. The Birmingham Hammers will be competing in the league’s Southeast Conference against clubs in Atlanta, Chattanooga, Knoxville, Nashville and New Orleans.
The Birmingham Hammers have partnered with Vestavia Hills Soccer Club for the second consecutive season. The team will train and host all league home matches at Vestavia’s state-of-the-art Sicard Hollow Athletic Complex, which saw record crowds for each of the six home matches this past summer.
Season tickets for this historic season will be available soon.
